Belwood Lions 41st Annual Pike Derby is over!

Another year, another derby.

Every year we welcome anglers from all over the our Southern Ontario region to join us for a weekend of fishing.

The weather again was in our favour, not too hot, not too cool.

The fish on the other hand were a bit less predictable with few respectable Pike on the board on Saturday, with Walleye lagging behind, then on Sunday seemed the other way around, with Walleye making a better showing.

Not so many entries on the board this year despite the team offering 'grab bags' for every fish bought in.

Again, we had a lot of laughs and some great outdoor time together. Thanks to all the generous sponsors, to the amazing Belwood Lions team that work so hard to pull this together and of course to you the anglers that so generously support the entire event and freely contribute to all the creative ways we find to help you generate contributions to such great causes.

As announced, we continue our ongoing donations annually to Groves Hospital. Last year we pledged $10,000 over two years for a Vital Signs Monitors. We met that pledge in one year. This year we pledged $9,000 for a Blanket Warmer for the Groves Oncology Ward for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Thanks to the sponsors and the anglers, we again met our pledge.

In total, we had 596 registrants and 50 fish on the board. See the official results below.

Blanket Warmer for GMCH Oncology Dept. selected !

Belwood Lions are are very proud to announce that after discussions with Groves Memorial Hospital, we have selected a Blanket Warmer for GMCH Oncology dept. as our goal for this years Pike Derby ($9,000 cost).
